Cybersecurity firm UpGuard just announce that there is huge data leak of 1.8 Million Chicago Voters by the US Voting Machine Supplier Election Systems & Software (ES&S) accidentally and they found that on which drive they save all the data of Chicago Voter Records on Amazon web services were not protected and when they found this threat they shut down that disk and secure their data.
Voting Machine Supplier Exposes 1.8 Million Voter Records
Basically, they leave their backup files on the disk and that is not protected and when they found this threat they fixed it last Saturday. According to the news, the investigation is still going on and the details of Chicago Voter Records is like contained names, addresses, dates of birth, partial Social Security numbers. Election Systems & Software (ES&S) confirmed that there is no effect on registration that effect of Chicago voting system.
According to ES&S, they said the server is not connected to Chicago voting system while the system in threat so the data is not reflecting at all and AWS server is not connected to the Chicago voting machine in real-time.
This agenda is going to be very important because this year on the Defcon event hackers just toyed the voting system in last Vegas So hacker was loaded his devices with 654,517 people who established in Shelby County. The data includes names, addresses, birthdates, and political party. So Still ES&S does not comment on this agenda yet and currently, they are trying to down the agenda but on the side of Chicago, they still worried about the situation.
Additionally, in June. UpGuard is the company who previously discovered 200 million US registered voters online and that hack is connected to the Deep Root Analytics a conservative data firm contracted by the Republican National Committee during the 2016 election.
