So, In order to customize it completely – You need to understand its parts and customize them after one by one. For the Sake of easiness and understanding – I’ve divided it into sections. Let’s have a look at them.
#1 Content Suggestions
As the new Start Menu of Windows 10 tries to be very intelligent. It shows the apps and Content which Microsoft think – of your interest. Their programs keep on tracking your activities on web and based on that analysis. And, They suggests you things in the start menu. But, You can remove this irritating feature from the Settings >> Personalization >> Start.
#2 Live Tiles & Groups
This is the most interesting feature since windows 8 and above to Customize Start Menu. As, the moving images and information attracts the users most. So, Microsoft kept the feature of live tiles & Groups. Which keep on changing the information on them until you close the Start Menu itself. You can Pin your fav. apps, programs or unpin the unnecessary programs and apps from start menu. All you need to do is to right click in the Apps and select Unpin From Start.
#3 Most Used Programs
The Start Menu also helps you out with the most used program by you. So, Next time whenever you’ll need the same program – You can easily find it. It proves to be helpful feature. but, if you still wanna remove it – Just Right click on the program and Select Never Show in List.
#4 Classic Windows 7 look [Take it back]
There is no direct way of doing this. But, if miss the classical start menu (like me). Then, you can simply unpin all the apps from the start menu. And, compact the Start menu. It’ll feel like the classic windows 7 start menu again. Enjoy!
#5 Full Screen Start Menu
This is again an awesome feature. You can simply goto Settings >> Personalization >> Start. And, You can select the Full screen option there. It’ll make the start menu to appear full screen.
#6 Quick Navigation Through Apps
You can do this by simply clicking on Windows Icon. And, Then Click on All apps >> any letter – Say ‘C‘. You’ll see a group of letters on the screen after clicking. Select the first letter of your desired app. Now, find the app. This is an awesome way to navigate through apps in windows 10. It is an easy way to Customize Start Menu of windows.
#7 Tweak Start Menu Properties
Tweaking the start menu properties is not that much difficult. Just Right click on the taskbar and then Properties. Now, Find Start Menu in the Dialog box. Change the settings as per your need. You can customize it completely from there.
#8 Recently Added Programs
The Start Menu also helps you out with the recently added program by you. So, Next time whenever you’ll need the same program – You can easily find it. It proves to be helpful feature.
